Ravensmoore

A West Marches campaign of grim fantasy soldiering — a legion in retreat, a country falling behind it, and a company of the expendable sent to do what the line cannot.

The game

We're playing a Forged in the Dark game: dice pools, position and effect, and clocks that fill whether or not anyone is watching. Rules are light and the fiction leads. If you've never played it, you'll pick it up in ten minutes at the table.

Characters are legionnaires. Some are specialists with a playbook and a name people remember; most are rookies and soldiers who may not last the season. Attrition is a feature, not an accident.

West Marches structure

There's no fixed party and no fixed night. Missions get posted; players self-organize into squads and pick a time that works. You don't need everyone to play, and you don't need to be there every week.

Characters live on the legion roster, not in your pocket. If your specialist can't deploy — the mission only has room for so many — you'll take a rookie instead, and that rookie's survival is your problem for the evening.

The setting

The world is documented in the Campaign Wiki as it gets written. Start with factions/The Iron Legion if you want context before your first session.
