Ogre

Ogres are solitary, strange creatures that emerge from the deep wilds fully grown — no memories, no name, no sense of who they are. It falls to whoever finds them, human or goblin alike, to give them a name and teach them the shape of the world.

The stories told about ogres run from comic to eerie to outright frightening, but a pattern holds: taken in young, an ogre becomes fiercely loyal to whoever raised it — guard, laborer, enforcer, companion, whatever the role demanded of them. Songs travel about famous pairs, an ogre and its chosen companion facing down ruins and worse together, and every town near the wilds seems to have its own local ogre with its own local legend.
