Castaros is a land of windswept plains and dark, thorny scrub, home to free tribes who ride wiry, sure-footed horses across territory that breaks lesser travelers. Castarosi are brown-skinned and dark-haired, close-knit and self-reliant, more likely to trust a horse than a stranger. Life on the plains rewards toughness and a good ear for weather; most Castarosi grow up fluent in both.

A Castarosi legionnaire tends to travel light and complain little — plains life doesn't leave room for either excess baggage or excess softness. They're often excellent scouts and riders, and just as often deeply unimpressed by anyone who's never had to break camp in a storm.
