Alberetor

Alberetor has been at war with the Cinder King and his Dark Lords for twenty years now — and every legionnaire is either old enough to remember life before it, or young enough to have never known anything else. This isn't a distant conflict. It's their farms burned, their family graves risen and turned against them, their capital's bells that used to ring for festivals now ringing for muster instead. For most Alberetorans in the Legion, the paycheck is a formality. What they actually want is their home back — or, if that's no longer possible, someone to make the Cinder King pay for taking it.

Alberetoran society still runs on the old order: disciplined armies, layered nobility, guild economies, and a network of towns and roads that two decades of war have battered but not broken — yet. That discipline shows in how Alberetorans fight: shoulder to shoulder, trained, coordinated, more comfortable in formation than in a lone scramble. It also shows in how they grieve, which is to say: quietly, efficiently, and usually by getting back to work. An Alberetoran legionnaire has almost certainly lost someone — to the war, to the undead, or to both at once — and carries that loss less as an open wound and more as a reason to keep standing in the line.

Naming an Alberetoran Character

Female names usually end in –a, male names in –o, though exceptions are common given how large the kingdom once was. Noble names — a shrinking distinction, these days — tend to end in –gai, –goi, or –mei. The letter "x" is rare, "j" is almost always replaced with "i," and the vowels e and i appear often.

Male names: Aro, Beremo, Demeon, Edogai, Gadramei, Iasogoi, Jomilo, Karlio, Malliano, Peonio

Female names: Abesina, Elindra, Elionara, Levia, Mehira, Ordelia, Revina, Suria, Variol, Vidina
